“Every child is gifted. They just unwrap their packages at different times.”
Thanks to Measure S and the generosity of the Glendale and La Crescenta communities, College View is getting a complete over haul. Our building, planned and constructed in the mid 1970’s was designed to care for the health and medical needs of the students in the Glendale Unified School District who required highly specialized care. At the time, what we understood about the education needs of these students was vastly different than what we know today.
We began planning renovations to College View in October of 2011. For 18 months we worked with the School District and TBP Architecture, Inc. to design a completely new school building including 9 new classrooms, a therapy gym, multipurpose room, instructional kitchen and laundry room and an indoor pool. The Glendale CCS Medical Therapy Unit will have a brand new facility to serve the students in our area. And there will be a second story which will house another District program giving our students access to integrative opportunities.
We anticipate construction to begin in November of 2013 and expect to start the 2015-16 school year in our new school.
